100th post

When I was told to start a blog in 2011, I had completely ignored that piece of advice, and my parents would agree I should have. As a favor and kick-start, a friend started my blog and published my then-most-recent poem as my first blog post:

https://sakshivashist.wordpress.com/2011/09/07/is-rishte-ko-kya-naam-doon/

I saw the blog, I saw the likes but nothing stirred inside me to go forward with it or write and publish more. Then a second poem was put up to inspire me.

I thought about it, nothing clicked. There was no time or will to sit and write a blog. And as a final effort to push me, this was published :

After these 3 initial kicks for inspiration and motivation, there was a radio silence for almost an year (nine months to be precise). Later in 2012 – after my first post was published, I decided, Okay WTH let me have a look at how this WP works.

I looked. I liked. I published.

Unluckily no one pressed a “LIKE” on this. Ever.

Same thing happened with my next post :

https://sakshivashist.wordpress.com/2012/08/13/un-silsilon-ko/

No like. No views.

I was wondering was was going wrong. I started looking around at blogs of others. Left a few comments on the poems which I liked. Then the next poem, which was close to my heart, finally got some attention.

I decided to buck up (coincidentally that was my next post) and yes, I got one more like and follow from last time. I got 4 likes. 😀

For next 9 posts…I had 1-2-3 likes. And then the tenth one broke all records and was liked by 7 people!!

My first double digit likes came from a post which I din’t expect from – 30 bloggers :

Next few posts again had a dry spell. hardly more than 5-6 people stumbled upon my blog.

But after https://sakshivashist.wordpress.com/2012/09/24/engulfed/  – I never saw a post with a single digit like!

Even now these poems are the only ones which remain with minimum clicks and hits :

– buck up ! –
a heart not-so-strong
~ no more love ~
a victory story
*tick-tock*
It goes on-n-on…

  1. People kept telling me that I should write, so I thought….why not…I will start a blog and see what happens. So last May, almost a year ago now, I opened a website through WordPress. It’s been a lot of fun.
I found out that, one of the wonderful things about having a blog is…..I am finally learning World Geography! I got a few likes from countries that I never knew existed. There is an island named Reunion?! And I couldn’t help but wonder, when I got a like from the “Isle of Man”…..hmmm…WHERE is the Isle of Woman? 🙂 I love meeting all the other bloggers and seeing photos from all around the world. Keep blogging! Sleep or awake, the miles will be a great adventure.

  2. Reading your post about starting your blog inspired me. I look at my blog which is not very old and at first there were no likes or views.
However you were the first person to read my blog and after your comments and likes it gave me a since of power. That I could do this. Now I get new followers, likes, and views. Not a lot but as I said it is still young but knowing how you started and what you thought touched home for me. Thank You Very Much for being my friend here and fellow blogger.
    Blessings

  3. Congratulations and best wishes for more successes to come. I am a two and a half month blogger and I can never forget you since you were the first one to come to my blog and show a like. Many thanks.

  4. Congo. You’ve come a long way and deserve all the applause. You such a powerful blogger who has a strong and beautiful command over the language. Blogging is indeed a beautiful journey.
    Cheers

  5. Congratulations Sakshi … 100th post even after such a humble start … awesome 🙂

I am sure you still have miles to go from here … so I will be looking forward to the post, when you have covered all 195 countries of the world 🙂

    All the best!!!

  6. Congratulation Sakshi. Continue your good work. When I started my blog in January I had the same reception, I had to wait a while before I got someone visiting or liking my posts but I never gave up and now after 4 months I like it so much I have 4 blogs. I never thought I would be writing so much. I am addicted. I never gave up and that is the attitude. So you see everything is good, you never gave up and now you have all these followers liking what you write. I am happy for you. Again congratulations. Write, write what you feel and what is in your heart. See you!!!
